Inventions
July 7th, 2008 LisaMy son loves crafts, and recently he’s been very interested in scientists so today we put on our engineering hats and invented a car. I got the idea when he took a couple of those drink umbrellas — somehow these ended up in his craft bin — and was spinning them together. To me they looked like a set of wheels; so, we put two sets of them together and presto! That was the bottom of our car. We cut out the body, doors, hood/lights and top of the car and he colored each of them individually (and, of course, un-matching colors!) All in all it took about 25 minutes, and here’s the end result:
I’m the type of person that attacks a craft project by running out to Michael’s to pick up the latest & greatest supplies, and often they end up sitting in the bag because our enthusiasm evaporates by the time we are actually ready to do the craft. So doing this project reminds me that so often the best projects are built from whatever is handy — just like often, the best present is the box it comes in!
